Work Experience
Work Experience is an integral part of what we do at Waterford Youthreach. The Leaving Certificate Applied course has a huge focus on work experience. In first year students complete 2 weeks during the academic year and a further 6 weeks is completed on the summer programme. In second year students complete 4 weeks during the academic year.
It is the perfect opportunity for a student to sample a profession, trade, occupation or area of work that they think they might like to pursue when finished their exams. Student can also get work placement in more than one area, so they can get a variety of experiences to see what they would like to pursue.
The following businesses and organisations are just a few that have been involved in our work experience programme down through the years.
The Granary Café, Treaceys Hotel, The Granville Hotel, The Tower Hotel, Spirit Leisure Centre, Kingfisher Leisure Centre, The Irish Cancer Society Charity shop, Oxfam Charity Shop, Crystal Leisure Centre, Sony Centre, Spar, Cupcake Couture, NCBI Charity Shop, The PACT Project, The Carrick Hotel, Caulfields Supervalu, Advance Pitstop, The Marina Hotel, CEX, Four Star Pizza, The Larder, Green Acres Montessori, Shades Hair Salon, The Florist, Sam McCauleys, Mens Development Network, Major McGrath Opticians, Pets “R” Vets, Petmania, Smyths, Regatta, Tesco, Dunnes Stores, PC World, Pinky, Stonehaven Equestrian Centre, Marys Catering.
