Involvement of Parents/Guardians
The involvement of parents / guardians is one of the ways in which centre staff can support the participation of learners in the centre. If parents / guardians are aware of the requirements of the programme and how it is responding to the needs of the learners, they will be in a better position to support them in participating.

A working relationship with parents / guardians should be developed from the start with their son or daughters’ year head and key worker. Contacting parents / guardians only when there are problems can result in resentment and poor co-operation and they should be kept abreast of learners’ progress through parent / staff meetings, open days and annual / biannual reports on progress.
